The Smith Rock Race Group LLC is pleased to announce that we have added an elite running relay course for the 2012 Inaugural Hells Canyon Relay.

Both the Start and Finish line will be in La Grande, OR at Pioneer Park. This elite course will feature an additional 12 legs  (A – L) on multi-surface rural roads that will run through the rural communities such as Cove, Union and Pondosa, utilizing the Medical Springs Highway, where you will connect to Highway 86 and the National Historic Oregon Trail Interpretive Center (NHOTIC). Runners will then continue through legs 1 -36 of our traditional relay course.  The total number of legs will be 48 and the distance will be approximately 287 miles.

This course will make the Hells Canyon Relay the Longest Traditional Running Relay in the Americas,
and the 2^nd Longest Traditional Running Relay in the World.
