The Crew

Collectively, we have more than 40 years of experience fitting the feet of runners, walkers, and active folks in Central Oregon. We’re all runners and we have some perspective on what that means. We don’t think you have to run a certain number of miles every week, be “serious”, or know a special handshake to be a runner. We know that if you enjoy (or want to enjoy) getting out and moving and breathing then it’s our job to make you comfortable from head to toe. It’s an involved process, but we work to make it easy. Many of us are also bikers, skiers, swimmers, spouses, parents, gardeners, knitters, potters, and hopefully quality members of the community. Thank you for the support!

Teague Hatfield

Teague Hatfield, Owner

Teague opened FootZone in 1995 and has owned it since 1999. Teague and his wife Tami have two children, Sam and Hannah, who keep them busy. He is not only a complete shoe geek (if you ever have a shoe question track him down, he’d love to talk!) but an avid runner, biker, and skier. Teague wholeheartedly loves to support the local running community outside of FootZone and can often be found participating in local runs with his family or cheering on runners from the sidelines.

Colleen Moyer

Colleen Moyer, Manager

Colleen has been a vital part of FootZone for 11 years. An active runner (she’s completed more than 15 ultra-marathons), skier, and general rockstar, she shares her enjoyment of all these activities with her husband, Jason. As the manager of FootZone, Colleen amazes us with her ability to keeps things moving and upbeat! Colleen is a definite go-getter – we all wish we had more of her energy to go around!

Thomas Morgan, Shoe Buyer

Thomas and his wife Alli moved here from Lexington, KY in 2015, citing the access to great running and Central Oregonians’ zest for life! Both Thomas and his wife are serious competitors, balancing their love of running with caring for twin boys. Though he can talk shoes with the fastest runners, he finds the the energy and excitement new runners bring to the sport infectious. He’s also a big fan of brand new socks – and says that when he wins the lottery, he’ll never wear the same pair of socks twice!

img_0975Meaghan McCluskey

With over seven years of running specialty experience, Meaghan joined the FootZone team in 2016. She uses writing and running as her way of story-telling. A Pacific- Northwesterner by birth, Meaghan follows adventure wherever it calls. Even finding the best fish tacos in Oregon can be quite the undertaking. Likes: muddy trails, good books, and spontaneous dance parties. Dislikes: hangnails.

Sarah Graham, Business Manager

Sarah and her husband Rob moved from Seattle to Bend in 2014 to be closer to the mountains and trails they love. Sarah joined the FootZone in 2015 and couldn’t be happier to be part of the team. When she’s not counting beans at FootZone, she’s an avid trail runner, animal lover (with 3 furry children), plant nerd, and FootZone’s Conservation Alliance ambassador.

Kraig Erickson

Kraig Erickson

Kraig is a fulltime Zoner and our resident “Tri” guy, having competed in 4 Ironmans. He ran his first ultra in September 2013 (Flagline 50k) and is an ultraswimmer, having raced several 5K, 10K, and longer distances in open water. Kraig came to us from Eugene where he was the Fitness Supervisor at the Downtown Athletic Club. He has a background in personal training, multisport coaching, and functional movement screening. When he is not at the FootZone, coaching the FootZone Tri Training Group, or training, he enjoys spending time with his two kids, Maklain and Taj. Kraig is also a personal coach and co-owner of Athlete Wise Performance Coaching.

Tonya Littlehales

Tonya may be our most avid pursuer of fitness. She’s completed several Ironman triathlons, marathons, and ultras. Along with her husband Geof, she organizes USAFITBEND Marathon training programs. Tonya splits her work time between fitting shoes at FootZone and teaching classes at Juniper Fitness Center. She loves a big adventure and regularly places high in ultramarathons.

Michelle Poirot

Michelle Poirot, Marketing, Events, & Training Groups Coordinator

Michelle is FootZone’s Marketing and Events Coordinator, and is the voice behind FootZone’s Facebook page. She loves sharing running and walking with others and leads the IntroRUN and Walking for Wellness training groups. Michelle can often be found running, walking, hiking, biking, or skiing Central Oregon’s trails with her husband and her adorable pooch.

Mandy Bonahoom

Mandy and her husband Scott found Bend while on a road trip across the country looking for their next place to call home. Mandy has an adventurer’s spirit which has allowed her to live across the country and internationally. She loves all things outdoors; running, hiking, nordic skiing, and can be found hitting the trails with her border collies most days. She’s completed many half marathons and a 50k.

coltonColton Gale

Colton, originally from Connecticut, moved from Massachusetts to Bend in 2017 to work at the FootZone and run in the mountains. He and Mandy are neck-and-neck for the “most eternally cheerful FootZoner” award and when not volunteering to help out like a champ with myriad random tasks that need doing around the shop, you can find him leading a FootZone group run, winning races (like Waldo 100k, which he did in 2017), enjoying a frou-frou coffee drink (he’s not ashamed to admit), or snowboarding at Bachelor.

Collier Lawrence

Collier moved to Bend from Reno to train with the Oiselle LittleWing training group. She wants to train and compete in the steeplechase at the highest level, but thinks it would be fantastic if she can run until she’s 70. (only 70?!) If she’s not running in Shevlin Park or along the Lake Tahoe Rim Trail, you’ll either find her at the store or indulging one of her minor obsessions – french toast, wine, Harry Potter, burritos, or clouds.

jamesJames Russell, Soft Goods and Accessories Buyer

A road trip to nowhere brought James to Bend in 2017. He instantly fell for the contagious joy of all its residents and decided to call central Oregon home. Originally from Mississippi, James loves to run trails every chance he gets and is just as equally passionate about yoga. On most mornings and evenings, you will see James at the dog park chasing around his Husky, Nelson.

Melanie Mangin

Melanie Mangin, FootZone Mom

Melanie Mangin started at the FootZone as the bookkeeper and was promoted to FootZone Mom in 2015! Melanie has a goofy husband, 2 grown children, 2 dogs, 2 horses, a really old barn cat, and a growing collection of grandbabies! It’s rare that you WON’T find her at many of FootZone’s group runs and she also happens to be the president of the Central Oregon Running Klub board.

Max King

Max King, FootZone Ambassador

FootZoner Max King, a.k.a., Superfast Local Guy, brings 20+ years of running experience, great technical shoe knowledge, and loads of enthusiasm to the ‘Zone and its customers. A self proclaimed “shoe geek,” Max openly admits to having 95 pairs of shoes at home, and his collection is growing. With wife Dory, son Micah, and daughter Hazel, he indulges his passions for running, biking, skiing, and mountain climbing in Central Oregon.

Chris Maley

Chris’ patience, humor, and calm demeanor make him stand out at the shop. He’s gained a great understanding of feet and footwear in his 9 years at FootZone, and takes the time to impart that knowledge to everyone that he helps. Chris has many talents, and shared one of those by putting together the Dirty Half video in past years.

Kari Strang

Kari works part-time on the floor at FootZone when she’s not busy chasing her two super fast sons, hanging out with her hubby, and fulfilling her duties on the board of Central Oregon Running Klub. As a regular face in the running community, Kari has helped bring many of our local running events to fruition. Kari’s son’s speed doesn’t come from just anywhere – this mom happens to be really speedy herself and can often be found on the podium at the end of a race.

Robbie Donohue

Robbie runs all the time – here at the shop, around COCC campus between classes for nursing school, and out on the trails. Always the first to lend a helping hand wherever its needed, we wonder how he has so much energy left for running!

Ali Halpin

Ali moved to Bend in 2006 to be in the mountains and work towards ski bum status. You will most often find her on the trails exploring on her bike but she also loves a long hike, slow trail run, and rock climbing. When not at the Footzone she loves to write and race her bike against the fastest ladies in the country. Ali loves to talk trails, gear, coffee, food and is always looking for recipe and book suggestions!

Dave Thomason

Dave Thomason, aka Super Dave

Dave is an icon in this town, and rightly so. He is race director for some of the best events you’ll find anywhere (Dirty Half, Super Dave’s Down and Dirty, Horse Butte 10 Miler, Twilight Run and the Flagline 50K/High Alpine half). He worked at FootZone for nearly 16 years and now focuses on race directing at Superfit Productions and raising his son Clay with his wife Carissa. His shoe/foot/biomechanical knowledge is immense and enhanced by his degree in exercise science.

Michael Swiatkowski

Mike moved here from Chicago where he worked in run specialty for over 3 years. A shoe-nerd, Mike was thrilled to find FootZone as an outlet to connect to the community and share his passion and knowledge of sport. Mike has completed in 10+ Chicago Marathons and many triathlons including Ironman. During his free time you may find Mike and his smooth collie, Boons, in Bend actively pursuing the perfect chocolate donut… and coffee.

Jared Bassett

Jared Bassett

Originally from Coos Bay, OR, Jared ran cross country and track at the University of Portland and continues to make like a cheetah now that he lives in Sunriver. When he’s not working the sales floor at FootZone, you can probably find him at the finish line of a local race with a ribbon around his neck.

Lindy Weddel

Lindy grew up in Bend running, hiking, skiing, kayaking, and enjoying all that Bend has to offer. She went away for a while and decided to transfer graduate programs to OSU Cascades in part so that she could get back to doing all the Bend things she loves to do! She has run many half and full marathons and also helps out quite a bit at our Birkenstock store.
